Warning for Google Chrome users: CERT-In i.e. Indian Computer Emergency Response Team has issued a big warning for Google Chrome users. In the latest Vulnerability Note CIVN-2024-0170, the cyber security research team has given information on several flaws. The team has said that hackers can take advantage of these flaws and steal personal data of users and can also take full control of the device.
The response team has found these flaws in heap buffer overflow in Angle and Dawn. This vulnerability occurs when a program appears to be more active in an allocated area of memory. This can cause the program to crash or hackers can use it to inject code into your browser and take control of it.
The team also found flaws in scheduling
In addition, the team also found a flaw in scheduling. This occurs when a program frees up a portion of memory and tries to use it later. This allows users to crash the program or allows hackers to execute unexpected code.
According to CERT-in, if a hacker uses these vulnerabilities, he can take complete control of the user’s system. This includes stealing data, installing malware or attacking another computer.
CERT-In has found these vulnerabilities on Chrome running on version 125.0.6422.76/.77 for Windows and Mac and Chrome versions prior to 125.0.6422.76 for Linux.

CERT-In has advised Google Chrome users to update Chrome to avoid this threat. Along with this, Google has released patches to remove these flaws. For Windows and Mac it is 125.0.6422.76/.77 and it has been fixed on Linux version 125.0.6422.76, which users need to update.
